WORKFORCE READINESS, REIMAGINED
Using Virtual Reality to prepare talent and reduce turnover in manufacturing.
Vfactory is a virtual reality (VR) workforce readiness platform developed to address one of manufacturing’s most persistent challenges: early employee turnover. Too often, new hires enter the workforce without a clear understanding of the shop floor environment, leading to mismatched expectations and costly attrition within the first 30 to 90 days. For manufacturers, this can represent a loss of $10,000 to $50,000 per employee. Vfactory was created to shift that dynamic by giving people a clearer picture of the work before they are hired, while helping employers build stronger, more prepared teams from the start.
Developed by Nventure in collaboration with the Northumberland Manufacturers' Association and immersive training partner XpertVR, Vfactory brings together industry insight and advanced simulation technology to better align workforce development with real-world conditions. As part of a structured commercialization pilot running from April 2026 to March 2027, the platform is being tested and refined with manufacturers, training organizations and educators across Ontario.
Vfactory is currently being delivered as a pilot project supported by Ontario’s Skills Development Fund, using immersive simulations to better prepare students and new hires for the realities of industrial work. This work is grounded in close collaboration with industry, ensuring the experience reflects the pace, expectations and environments people will encounter on the job.
Inside Vfactory, users step into realistic manufacturing settings where they can begin to understand what the work actually feels like. They move through scenarios that introduce safety protocols, equipment and day-to-day tasks, building familiarity and confidence along the way. The experience is designed to bridge the gap between learning about the job and experiencing it, helping individuals make more informed decisions about their path forward.
For employers, that shift makes a measurable difference. When people know what to expect, they are more likely to stay, contribute and grow within the role. By improving job fit at the earliest stage, Vfactory helps reduce early turnover and the costs that come with it, while supporting a more stable and resilient workforce.
Vfactory reflects a broader shift in how the manufacturing sector attracts and prepares talent. It introduces new audiences to the industry in a way that is engaging, accessible, and grounded in reality, while giving employers a practical tool to strengthen recruitment and retention over the long term.
